Are you interested in becoming a United States citizen, but are not sure what you need to do to apply? The library is hosting two activities to help you on your path to citizenship! On Saturday, October 7, a representative from the United States Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS) will be at our Lantana Road Branch to discuss each step of the naturalization process; from completing the application to taking the oath of allegiance. You can learn more about the naturalization process on the USCIS website here.
This will be followed up on Saturday, October 21, at our Wellington Branch where MIRA USA will present “Lose the Fear of Taking the Citizenship Test.” MIRA USA is a non-profit organization that promotes the social integration of immigrants in the United States. Presenters will give an overview of the citizenship interview process in Spanish while practicing the civics questions, and questions from the N-400 form. A brief mock citizenship interview will be offered in English. The library has books, DVDs, and other materials you can access to help you in your journey to becoming a U.S. citizen! You can find more information on our New Americans page.
