Palm Beach County Library System Observes Holocaust Remembrance

The Palm Beach County Library System will commemorate Holocaust Days of Remembrance with a month-long series of programs offered throughout the County. Through film, literature and lectures by educators, survivors and liberators, Holocaust Days of Remembrance programming is an opportunity for the community to learn and to reflect.

Douglas Crane Appointed as the Palm Beach County Library System Director

Doug Crane becomes the fourth person to serve as the Director of the Palm Beach County Library System. He is originally from Toronto, Canada where he earned undergraduate degrees in History and Geography, and his MLS from the University of Toronto. Having worked in the Toronto Public Library while he went to high school and college, he is one of the few librarians who began working on his library science graduate degree right after graduation.

Hispanic Heritage Month Kickoff Event

Celebrate the start of Hispanic Heritage Month with the Palm Beach County Library System on Saturday, September 6th, at 11:00 am until 4:00 pm. This years’ theme is “Cultural Connections” to celebrate the cultural diversity in our community and the beautiful Latin American traditions.

Palm Beach County Library System is Innovative and Providing Services that are worth Showcasing

Two Palm Beach County Library System (PBCLS) programs were recognized by Urban Libraries Council’s (ULC) in its annual Innovation Initiative which features public libraries that inspire innovations and creativity in their programs and services in the communities they serve. More than 180 stories of innovation were submitted in 2014 the PBCLS programs are included in the Resource Center for its Civic and Community Engagement, as well as its Health, Wellness and Public Safety.

Smiles Over Winner of Lighthouse Award

On May 29, 2014, Rachel Mick, Palm Beach County Library Systems’ Consumer Health Information Services (CHIS) Librarian received the Lighthouse Award. The Award from Navigate PBC, an initiative of the Health Council of Southeast Florida, is given to individuals who go above and beyond in their work helping individuals and families navigate the various health and human services systems and connecting or linking them with care, services, programs and support.
