Battle of the Books 2010

Five teams battled it out on Saturday, July 31st during the Battle of the Books tournament. After four rounds it came down to sudden death to determine the winner. Congratulations to The Children of the BOB team from the Main Library!

Families Reading Together: Pine Jog Teen Photography Exhibit

Teens were not left out of all the fun of our 6th Annual Families Reading Together Campaign. High school photography students were asked to submit photographs that captured “Animals in Action: From Head to Toe.” A reception was held at the new Pine Jog Education Center’s Gallery for the teens, their teachers and their families. The photographs remained on display at the gallery throughout the month of November.

Busch Wildlife Sanctuary Presents Florida Animals

To celebrate Families Reading Together, the Busch Wildlife Sanctuary brought the natural environment to our branches! Their unique wildlife program featured live animals including some of the following creatures: alligators, crocodiles, hawks, owls, snakes, skunks, opossums, and more. Children learned about the natural history of the animals, Florida’s ecology, food chains, and endangered species.
