Palm Beach County Library System’s Lantana Road Branch Reopens

The Palm Beach County Library System is proud to announce that the Lantana Road Branch will reopen Wednesday, January 5 at 10:00 am. The branch closed in January 2021 for renovations.

The project includes new lighting, fixtures and flooring; painting, construction of new interior spaces, expanded children’s area, relocation of the teen area, additional study rooms, service desk consolidation, design services, and select new furniture items. Air conditioning work was also done in the reconfigured spaces. The branch also added the CreationStation, a digital media lab and recording studio, similar to those at the Main Library and the Wellington Branch. Due to supply chain issues, the delivery of equipment for these new spaces has been delayed.

The building opened to the public in April 2009 and was funded by the 2002 Library Expansion Program bond referendum and impact fees. “The Lantana Road Branch filled a gap in our library service area. Overwhelming use of the building has required us to accelerate needed improvements for safety and service enhancement,” said Library Director Doug Crane. Funding for this project comes from the Library Taxing District. “We believe the upgrades and refurbishments will be well received by the residents and allow us to continue to fulfill our mission to connect communities, inspire thought and enrich lives,” said Crane.

The project was funded with reserves from the Library Taxing District, budgeted at $3.9 million.
