The Lantana Road Branch will close at 5:00 pm on Sun, Jan 31, 2021 for renovations. The $3.9 million project includes new lighting, fixtures and flooring; painting, and construction of new interior spaces, expanded children’s area, relocation of the teen area, additional study rooms, service desk consolidation, design services, and select new furniture items. Air conditioning work will be done in reconfigured spaces. The branch will reopen in late 2021.
The building opened to the public in April 2009 and was funded by the 2002 Library Expansion Program bond referendum and impact fees. “The Lantana Road Branch filled a gap in our library service area. Overwhelming use of the building has required us to accelerate needed improvements for safety and service enhancement,” said Library Director Doug Crane. Funding for this project comes from the Library Taxing District. “We believe the upgrades and refurbishments will be well received by the residents and allow us to continue to fulfill our mission to connect communities, inspire thought and enrich lives,” said Crane.
While the branch is closed members are encouraged to visit one of our other nearby locations:
Materials borrowed prior to closing can be returned to any of the Library System’s 15 open locations and the Bookmobile. We also encourage our members to use the wide range of electronic resources and services available through our website at www.pbclibrary.org
