There is always a lot going on at the Library, so be sure to visit our website, Facebook page, Instagram and Twitter page often to keep up-to-date!

Did you know we have 19 other email newsletters? They are packed with suggested books, DVDs, events and more. You can sign up or read the most recent issues of each, by clicking on the titles on this page.

National Library Week

We're celebrating National Library Week all month this year! We've hidden one Dewey somewhere in each branch. Show some love for your library, take a selfie with Dewey and share it on social media. Then, tag us at pbclibrary and use the hashtag #pbclibrary, #Dewey & #NLWpbcLibrary.

Head to the member services desk and show a staff member your selfie for a small surprise! (While supplies last.)

While you are there, thank library staff for the role they have played in supporting our communities both in person and virtually as the world continues to fight COVID-19. In times of crisis, libraries and our staff provide free access to WiFi, eBooks, accurate information and digital social services.

The Dr. Seuss Controversy: Racism & Children's Literature

Wed, Apr 07, 6:30 pm (Ends at 7:30 pm )

Join Belle Glade Library staff member Joe Dellosa for a conversation with Dr. Philip Nel, University Distinguished Professor at Kansas State University and the Director of the Program in Children's Literature at KSU's Department of English, about the Dr. Seuss controversy that goes beyond the headlines and hot takes. Topics to be discussed include Dr. Seuss's early political cartoons and propaganda work, reconciling the anti-racist messages in some of his books with the racist content and imagery in others, and the legacy of Dr. Seuss, especially in the context of rising anti-AAPI bigotry and violence nationwide.

Tech-Talk

Tech-Talk is filled with videos and articles on technology and communication. Access it on the Online Research Page. It is listed under the following headings: Careers, Education, Students, and Technology but here is the direct link.

Tech-Talk prepares students and re-entering adults with the technology, communication and leadership skills that hiring employers want most. It gives you tips, techniques and tools to get your work done faster and with more sophistication. Tech-Talk answers problems and supports learning on-the-go with the database, mobile app and the newsletter's educational surprises. It helps you feel good about the knowledge you have and reassured that you're staying up with the technology world. Tech-Talk helps build your technology vocabulary so that you can successfully support patrons, students and colleagues.

You can sign-up for the weekly email newsletter if you are interested in getting tips and techniques delivered to your inbox. It also has an app available in both the Google and Apple app stores. The username and password for the app is pbcls.
