Money Smart Month

The Palm Beach County Library System will be participating in the national public awareness campaign, Money Smart Month in April, by offering classes and events throughout the county.

Money Smart Month events are for everyone: from job seekers to small business owners to thrifty consumers. Events cover a variety of topics to help residents improve their credit score, fight against senior scams, prevent identity theft, write a grant, read a financial statement, and much more. For a complete listing of events visit www.pbclibrary.org.

Money Smart Month promotes financial education across all age groups. Launched in 2002 by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, the program is now active in more than 45 states through national partnerships with the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, United States Department of Agriculture Cooperative Extension, and the American Library Association.

To learn more about personal finance, careers, consumer safety, grant-seeking, thrifty lifestyle tips and more, join us at one of our Money Smart events this month!

A Shakespeare Primer: Everything You Need to Know to Not Hate Shakespeare

The Palm Beach Shakespeare Festival takes you on a journey of iambic pentameter proportions with a sample of scenes from his comedies, histories and tragedies.

Book+Art: A Mash-Up for Art & Book Lovers

Read the book in advance. Then join fellow book and art lovers at the Norton Museum of Art for a lively discussion followed by a gallery conversation.

Dawn Tripp’s 2016 novel spans O’Keeffe’s adult life, including her early correspondence and encounters with Stieglitz, her work in New Mexico, the commission for the Rockefeller Center mural (which was never realized), Stieglitz’s death in 1946 and beyond. Discuss the connections between the book and O’Keeffe’s work in the Museum Collection. Free. No RSVP required. Download or reserve your copy of the book today!

Quickbyte: DeepArt Effects

DeepArt Effects is a free app that applies filters to any image, merges images, and turns photos to art, sketch, oil painting, or pencil art. DeepArt comes with over 20 different effects and with just two clicks, you can transform images and create your own original creation.

Begin by choosing a gallery image, one that you took yourself or downloaded, or by taking a photo. Once you’ve made a choice, the available effects will be visible to you. Click on the effect, and it will immediately be applied to the image. If you want to change the intensity of the effect, it’s simple to do with a finger swipe. For $2.99, there is a paid version that offers more options, including full HD rendering, automatic image optimization, the ability to crop and rotate images, and finally, watermark removal.

DeepArt Effects is available for free for both Android and iOS devices. Give it a try and become an artist!
