CreationStation Teen Time

The CreationStation at the Main Library is the place to find the latest digital tools to create and edit music and video.

Teen Time in the CreationStation provides the opportunity for teens to develop their skills or learn the basics of video and audio production, graphic design, photography and other forms of digital media that may interest them.

CreationStation mentors are on hand to assist during Teen Time with the use of professional software, such as: Final Cut Pro for video production, Photoshop to edit images, GarageBand or Logic Pro X for music, and Manga Studio for designing professional quality comics and illustrations. Teen Time participants can use video cameras, stage lighting and a green screen to record video, microphones for sound recording or even a drawing tablet to create whatever they can imagine.

During previous Teen Times, we've taken studio portraits then added filters and effects to make them look aged and damaged, recorded podcasts and added sound effects, and filmed in front of the green screen then replaced it with backgrounds from other locations, such as the streets of New York.

Teens, grades 6-12, are encouraged to stop by during Teen Time, regardless of skill level or interest.

Keep up to date on future CreationStation Teen Times.

Quick Byte: NASA App

Whether you’re 7 or 70, the world of outer space is fascinating. With this free app from NASA, you can learn all about the universe, space, and NASA and its missions. There are featured stories, and a spectacular assortment of images shot from outer space.

When you open the NASA app, you’ll be able to choose from a variety of topics that include missions, images, videos, tweets, NASA Television, news, centers, featured content and programs. If you choose missions, you’ll access an alphabetical list of current and future missions, including a launch schedule for NASA missions as well as those of International Space Station (ISS) Program partners (Russia, Japan and the European Space Agency). There’s even a schedule of ISS sighting opportunities for your location, and a tracker to follow the location and path of missions.

Perhaps the most valuable content contained in the NASA app is the collection of images. You can browse through thousands of images of space, launches, astronauts and more – or use the search function and find what you’re looking for in seconds.

Whether you’re a space expert or simply want to expand your knowledge, and see some fantastic images, check out the NASA App. It’s available for free for both iOS and Android devices.

Audubon Society's Collection: Celebrating 35 years at the Main Library

Together with the Audubon Society of the Everglades, the library is celebrating by offering a special program. We are marking the 35th year that the Main Library of the Palm Beach County Library System has housed the Audubon Society’s special and extensive book collection. We are hosting a gala for the community to take part in. On Sat, Mar 21, we will have programs for adults and children. At 10:00 am we are offering a children’s craft activity, focusing on birding, for children of any age. At 2:00 pm James Currie, host of the television program "Birding Adventures" and author of the new book "When Eagles Roar: The Amazing Journey of an African Wildlife Adventurer," will speak. Books will be available for sale, and Mr. Currie will sign them. Join us for the fun. Call 233-2600 to preregister.
